Fever During Pregnancy: Will It Affect My Baby?

During pregnancy, often would-be mothers are suffering from fever. Patients and their closure once are going to a lousy phase if the temperature has stayed. They are creating panic about the baby’s health. It is advisable to consult the doctor before the alarm if your doctor would recommend taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) which helps to lower the fever level.

The temperature has increased above 98.6 degrees; you can consult your doctor. Usually, infection is the reason for the fever. Proper treatment is needed to cure this condition. Fever during the pregnancy may denote the future jaw problem or heart problem of the growing baby, and many experiments prove these results.

Symptoms of fever during pregnancy:

If an expecting mother is suffering from fever, some symptoms are noticeable like back pain, shortness of breath, chills, abdominal pain, neck stiffness, etc.

Whether food poisoning is responsible:

Food poisoning is another cause of fever during pregnancy. Usually, viruses are responsible for food poisoning. Also, bacteria can cause food poisoning by using their toxins. If bacteria and viruses cause fever, the patient can experience nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. Moreover, vomiting can cause other difficulties during pregnancy. Due to vomiting, contraction, dehydration, preterm labour, etc. happen. Vital electrolytes, water are effluxed out from the body due to diarrhea and vomiting. The number of electrolytes is decreasing in the body. As a result, blood pressure is not stable, and immediate hospitalization is suggested. If the patient can detect that she is suffering from fever due to food poisoning, she should consult her doctor immediately.

Basic treatment:

Fever is not normal during pregnancy. Doctors suggest general tests. Proper diagnosis is required to dissolve the problem. Without tests performed, it is not concluded the reason for the infection. For viral and bacterial attacks, usually, Tylenol and hydration are suggested. The patient quickly recovers from it after taking Tylenol. Antibiotic is used for bacterial infection. Aspirin and ibuprofen should not be consumed during pregnancy.

Lastly, proper detection of fever is essential. So if the oral temperature is 100.4 degrees and ear, rectal temperature is 101 degrees, you can consider it as fever. To stay away from fever during pregnancy, it is required to maintain regular hygiene. Wash your hand correctly to avoid the microorganisms associated with the flu and infected people. Daily hygiene practice, proper medication, doctor consultation, essential awareness can help you to prevent fever during pregnancy and protect your baby from this condition.
