Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc stated he has faith in the Bundesliga side and the team will “improve significantly” during the second half of the season. He believes that German title contenders are not corresponding to the expectations they have so a histrionic uptick is being expected this week.
Dortmund’s team appeared fifth in the Bundesliga. On December 12th of last year coach Lucien Favre following a 5-1 home thumping was sacked by Stuttgart and the team. Favre`s trusted Edin Terzic took charge. The 38-year-old Terzic showed his talent from the beginning three matches and posted a couple of wins. Zorc now believes the changes in the team are positive and playing a great part in the improvement and such a show of wins will continue in 2021 as well.
On the club`s official website, Zorc stated “I expect the team to improve significantly. No one here at Borussia Dortmund is satisfied with fifth in the table. Champions League qualification is always our goal and we have to achieve that at the end of the season.”
Though Zorc was very frustrated when Terzic performance became a reason for the loss against Union Berlin and afterward he pointed out the responsibilities of players towards the club. Zorc stated, “After the Union Berlin game, I was especially annoyed because we’d lost two games in relatively quick succession from four corners.”
When Zorc`s team was caught out by Cologne, he believed that team will perform better in the next upcoming against Union Berlin which was held a few weeks after losing against Cologne. He was not satisfied with such performance of the team. As the team has changed its whole game plan in Bundesliga and has performed way better as compared to previous matches. Their performance in the Champions League leads them to the next stage. Zorc now seems very motivated, he said: “We’ve done our job in the cup, but we’re not doing our job in the league, including the targets set by the players before the season.”
Dortmund is not getting back to their strong position as they encountered against Wolfsburg. They will also face Sevilla in a Champions League. In past, Dortmund was knocked out in round 16 by Sevilla so the upcoming tie is a challenge for the team.
